Minority Leader, Osei-Kyei Mensah-Bonsu has stated that President John Dramani Mahama’s promise to create millions of jobs if reelected is just a “political talk”.

According to him, the NDC has used such double-tongued strategy during various election years.

“The NDC promised the same thing during Atta Mills’ time and what happened? So why should Ghanaians vote for them again? What do they have for the electorate? They have nothing to offer Ghanaians,” he said in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show 'Ghana Montie'

President Mahama pledged to create more jobs should he be given a second term in office.

He explained that - he has spent his first term fixing the macroeconomic fundamentals of the country. This, he noted, has paved the way for investments to be made in the economy which will yield the fruits of jobs in his second term.

“The next term of office will see a launching of the green revolution in Ghana. We’re already designing and preparing for the establishment of 50 new farmer service centres across the country to provide subsidized fertilizers, agricultural mechanization services, improved seeds to farmers in all parts of this country,” he said at the inauguration ceremony of the Komenda Sugar Factory in the Central Region.

Adding that - “Millions of jobs will be created for our young people and the private sector is invited to increase their investment appetite for these projects and academia is also to intensify research for the attainment of these plans.”

But the NPP leading member maintained that the president has no job for the youth as promised – “Jobs are collapsing due to energy crisis and utilities tariffs. So how can he create jobs when these issues are not solved?"
