President John Mahama has commended former President Jerry Rawlings and founder of the ruling National Democratic Congress for his address to delegates at the just ended 8th Congress of the party.
According to the President, Rawlings’ message to the delegates was insightful.
“My sincere appreciation to the founder of our party JJ Rawlings for the deep insights he's shared with delegates at this congress,” Mahama wrote on his twitter account.
Mr Rawlings in an uncharacteristic manner, was moderate in his remarks about the party and government officials in his speech at the congress that elected new national executives of the party at the Baba Yara sports stadium in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.
The former military leader used the occasion to surprisingly commend vice President, Kwesi Amissah Arthur and also called on his wife, Nana Konadu Agyemang-Rawlings who has left the party to consider returning.
