Mahama committed the greatest sin by lying before Catholic Bishop Conference - NPP Chairman

A regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said that one of the greatest sins of former President Mahama which would never be forgiven was his ability to stand before members of the Catholic Bishop Conference and pour out lies after lies.

Mr. Bernard Antwi-Boasiako popularly known as Chairman Wontumi noted that the former President should have used the occasion to trumpet the alternative measures he has for Ghana and not to dwell on lies.

"There is no truth in former President Mahama. Instead of using the occasion to tell Ghanaians what he can do for us, he rather chose it to tell lies just to disturb the ears of men chosen by God to preach his word.

He failed to deliver and it is sad he has still not come to the realization that lieing to men appointed by God is a horrible sin", the Ashanti regional Chairman of the NPP said.

At a meeting with the Catholic Bishops' Conference, the flagbearer of the NDC, Mr. John Mahama, called for a full disclosure of government’s dealings in respect of the Aker Energy scandal.

The former President asked the Conference and Ghanaians to request from President Nana Akufo-Addo why the NPP government would renegotiate a contract to the disadvantage of Ghanaians when there was low risk to the government.

“There was no risk in the Aker energy situation, so why would government reduce its stake by about 48% to 18%?” he questioned

Mr Mahama observed that just like many other deals that had party cronies directly participating, some of the key persons involved in the renegotiated Aker energy deal are linked to the Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta and his Databank.

Mr Mahama asked that the Conference and other faith-based organisations, as the conscience of the nation, speak out against the negative happenings in the country.

But Chairman Womtumi dismissed his assertion noting that the former President is as confused as his sponsored policy think tank IMANI Africa.

He explained that the same issue being discussed by former President Mahama was raised by IMANI Africa some months ago and the minister for Energy, John Peter Amewu, came out to reject the claims.

He wondered why the flagbearer of the NDC would not pull the brakes on peddling falsehoods but was so much eager to spend his time and resources doing what "the devil likes best".
