James McKeon, the Chairman of the Finland chapter of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Europe, has challenged former President John Mahama to name a single hospital he personally initiated during his tenure in government.

According to McKeon, many of the hospital projects often credited to Mahama by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were actually initiated by the late President Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills and merely completed by Mahama.

Speaking on the Ghana Yensom morning show on Accra 100.5 FM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, co-hosted by Otafrigya Kayire Apea-Apreku and Odehyeeba Kofi Essuman, McKeon argued that if former President Mahama can pinpoint a hospital project he initiated during his four-year administration, he would be willing to go naked in acknowledgment.

He challenged the NDC to provide the names of hospital projects that were initiated and completed by Mahama himself.

McKeon specifically mentioned hospitals such as the Legon Hospital and the Bank Hospital as examples of projects that were initiated by the late Prof. Mills but completed under Mahama’s tenure.

He contended that Mahama lacks any personal hospital projects to his credit, unlike former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. He cited the Euroget projects as legacies of President Kufuor and the Agenda 111 project as an initiative of President Akufo-Addo.

“Where is John Mahama’s legacy?” McKeon asked, asserting that many of the hospital projects touted by the NDC were not initiated by Mahama, thus challenging the former president’s record in healthcare infrastructure development.
