Minister of State at the Presidency Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has stated the NDC administration is fighting corruption head on.

The Mahama administration has been widely criticized for its poor handling of some reported corruption cases.

Recently, former President Rawlings in an interview with Nana Aba Anamoah on GhOne TV questioned the President’s will in fighting the age old canker.

“Well, he [Mahama] says he is fighting corruption effectively, I don’t think so, I think he could have done much better,” he stated.

But in what qualifies as a direct response to former President Rawlings, former Sports Minister Elvis Afriyie Ankrah told Bola Ray on Starr Chat that the President has effectively dealt with all the corruption cases reported in his government.

“When it comes to corruption again you see, we don’t live in a jungle. We live in a society governed by rules. Many years ago, corruption perception index said things were not good things were not good, we were not doing well.

“This year, the same Transparency International says we are doing well so which is which? I happen to be one of the few people who had the privilege of working with him directly on the GYEEDA case. He instructed that we should look at GYEEDA. As a minister, you can’t just get up and look at GYEEDA. But the President instructed that we should look at it, we set up the committee, and he gave all the support”.

Asked directly whether the NDC administration is fighting corruption, the Minister of State at the Presidency said “of course we’re, of course we are. I’ve told you about GYEEDA, you know the personalities. These are heavy hitters okay? and yet the president stood his ground”.
