Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon (MP), Lydia Alhassan has chided the flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama for exhibiting gross incompetence, a situation she noted, created economic hardship in Ghana under his regime.
The former President says when elected for a second term, he will replace President Akufo-Addo’s “One District, One Factory” programme to staple processing zones.
He believed it would encourage investors to pump in resources into the processing sector without any political restrictions.
Former President Mahama, in an interaction with journalists in Accra, said the “One District, One Factory” wasn’t feasible because not all districts are endowed and resourceful to establish sustainable factories and create jobs.
He further noted that when given the nod in the 2020 elections, his administration will revamp the crippling cocoa industry.
He stated his administration will provide free fertilizers, rehabilitate roads for cocoa growing areas, revamp the Produce Buying Company and adequately equip the company, and also eliminate the monopoly of foreigners in the sector.
“We shall provide correct inputs to achieve the right outputs. If you pretend to be giving more inputs, outputs will expose you.”
But Lydia Alhassan has cautioned Mr. Mahama to stop reviewing NPP ideas and rather come out with his own manifesto.
According to her, Mahama is showing serious signs of desperation.
“Ghanaians are not asking for copy copy President…It is not about copying someone's idea and changing it to your own. The problem here is to tell us what different thing you (Mahama) is bringing on board and stop this changing and review policy parasite…Those closer to him should advised him to try and be original small”, She said.
