The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has raised concerns over the Electoral Commission's (EC) delay in announcing the final results of the 2024 Presidential Election.
Speaking at a press briefing on December 8, 2024, he urged the National Peace Council to intervene, emphasising the importance of a timely declaration to uphold electoral integrity.
"Mahama has secured over 56 percent of the votes. What prevents them from beating all those total results? We are aware of the government's collusion with the EC to delay the results. We made this clear to the National Peace Council, that key political parties have declared the results. They ought to call out the commission to lead by the commitment. They should come and declare the results," he stated.
The delay comes despite the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, graciously conceding defeat in the 2024 general elections.
However, the Electoral Commission has yet to declare the final results.
