A member of Professor Joshua Alabi’s campaign team, Nii Amasah Namoale, has slammed former President John Dramani Mahama and his campaign team for "renting people to make him look popular".

Contrary to claims that the former president is the favourite of delegates of the NDC, the former legislator said, Mr. Mahama is only acting out his popularity and should not be taken serious because he will lose the presidential primaries.

He also accused the Mahama campaign team of busing people to the recently held National Delegates Conference to cheer the former President who is seeking to be the party's flagbearer in the 2020 election.

According to Namoale, the cheering and rousing welcome given Mr Mahama at the congress grounds were fake and acted to make the former president appear as the best among the other candidates.

He said, it was Mr Mahama who called the tune for the Borborlibobo track but not the delegates. If indeed he is popular as being claimed, he should have allowed the delegates to call the tune. Mahama is not popular as perceived. He is only acting and not being real.

He stressed, ‘’I can state on authority that, the people who cheered Mr Mahama when he arrived on Sunday at the congress, were a rented crowd. They were not delegates. About 90% of the delegates had left before Mr Mahama arrived, Ade Coker and other campaign team members rented the crowd to come and cheer Mr Mahama to look as if he is the obvious choice. He is not the best choice and unpopular. Alabi is a better candidate.’’

Nii Amasah Namoale was optimistic of victory for Professor Joshua Alabi.

In his view, the former head of the University of Professional Studies will win the NDC presidential primaries hands down and give the party a one touch victory in 2020.

He maintained, ‘’Professor Alabi will win the presidential primaries hands down. He is the obvious choice. He will be elected the presidential candidate and God willing he will be elected as president of Ghana come 2020. He will defeat Akufo-Addo. The grace and favour of God is upon on him, he is the chosen one and I repeat, he will win the race and win the national race.’’

Nii Amasah Namoale was speaking to Kwame Tutu on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.

He admonished the campaign team of Mr Mahama to be tolerant and stop insulting and attacking people who disagree with their views and opinions.

He said, ‘’As I speak to you, people will start insulting and attacking me. But what I said does not warrant insults yet the will come after me with insults.’’
