The Women’s Organiser of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (N.P.P), Otiko Djaba, says President John Mahama is an embarrassment to Northerners.
“This President is not serious. He has embarrassed a lot of Northerners,” Djaba told Moro Awudu on the XYZ Breakfast Show on Wednesday.
Reacting to the President’s promise to progressively make Senior High School Education free as announced in the state of the nation address presented to Parliament on Tuesday, Otiko Djaba said: “He’s embarrassing mother Ghana, and the IMF is telling him that: ‘E no dey go well,’ so he should stop the ‘edey be k3k3’; put down his Dubai things and get down to the ground and give us the bread and butter things that we need for the development of this country”.
The 52-year-old Politician who is seeking to retain her seat as her party’s Women’s Organiser wondered why the President campaigned against the NPP’s 2012 Flagbearer’s free SHS policy only to make an “embarrassing” volte-face.
“He owes Nana Addo an apology for all those useless adverts he put out there,” in the lead-up to the 2012 elections.
Deputy Women’s Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hajia Zainab Mahama, has rebuffed the accusations and claims against the President.
She told XYZ News that Northerners have inundated the Party’s leadership with messages of applause for the President’s State of the Nation Address.
“I didn’t sleep the whole of yesterday. The applause that came that ‘yes this is what we were expecting. Yes, this is the man that can do the job. Yes, congratulate the President for us, you are in Accra. Tell him that our thumbs are up for him and we know that he is somebody who can take the country to wherever we want it to be”.
Hajia Mahama said the President has many more wonders under his sleeves and, therefore, urged Ghanaians to expect better things soon.
