The former General Secretary of the opposition New Patriotic Party has claimed that some ministers doubt the achievements touted by the President during the ‘Accounting to the People’ forum held Tuesday.
Touting the achievements of his administration in a book, President Mahama said the government has done a lot in all sectors to put the oil-producing country on a sound footing.
The book captures the developments Ghana has seen under his tenure.
Launching the book at the Banquest Hall, President Mahama said “development occurs within space and time and so very often it’s not easy to comprehend that development is taking place because if you live in, say Chorkor, and there is a hospital being built in Nungua, you might not have the consciousness that healthcare is improving.
“And so what I’ve tried to do with this book is to bring an overview of what we’ve been doing in the whole country over the period of our governance. Accounting to the people brings together in one space and volume, major highlights of what we have achieved so far as a government.”
But speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana Wednesday, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie popularly known as Sir John said it was clear that most of the ministers present at forum did not believe the achievements being touted by the President were a reality.
“They [ministers] were scanning through the book and they were amazed wondering whether the things the president was talking about had actually been done by them,” Sir John said, adding “if you look in their faces…they don’t believe it”.
According to Sir John most of the things touted by the President during the forum were just promises which were yet to be fulfilled.
“Never could I think that people can sign MOUs and tout them as achievements by a serious president of a country.”
