Yamoah Ponkoh, former Municipal Chief Executive of Ejisu in the Ashanti Region is calling on John Dramani Mahama to come back and contest for the presidency in 2020.

John Dramani Mahama lost overwhelmingly to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo- Addo at the December 2016 polls with most political pundits describing the defeat as ‘unprecedented and a disgrace.

Neither the party nor Mr Mahama has officially come out clearly to state as to whether he will stage a comeback in 2020 or not though some executives have already demanded he leads the party as its torchbearer.

Earlier, 10 Regional Chairmen of the NDC signed a petition urging the former president John Dramani Mahama to lead the party in 2020 general elections.

The petition came after the regional chairmen had a closed-door meeting with the ex-president. They have all rallied their support behind Mr Mahama and believe he is the best candidate to lead the party.

Yamoah Ponkoh who is a staunch supporter of the former President believes he has a lot of unfinished businesses he must come and complete

“Something always speaks to me that, the former president didn’t finish the good work the Lord ordained him to do for Ghanaians. I will keep speaking about this until Ghanaians vote him back power to continue his work”. Mr Yamoah told Accra Fm.

“He is God’s chosen, he never completed his work. But some latter-day saints deceived him. That’s the reason for his fall from the presidency”. He told Accra Fm in the capital.

According to him, some people around the president schemed his downfall; he described them as ‘lather day saints’.

A former finance minister of his party, NDC, Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has said the party needs a thorough overhaul from flagbearer to grassroots executive.

But Mr Yamoah has replied him saying he (Hagan) must start with his region first.
