Dr. Cadman Mills, brother of late President Atta Mills has revealed that though he was officially a senior economic adviser to former president John Mahama, he didn’t develop personal rapport with him.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Starr 103.5Fm, Dr. Cadman Mills said he has a lot of regrets for not being able to establish a cordial relationship with the Ex president though he thought that both of them seemed to be very good friends and would have been able to get on better.
“Officially I was a senior economic adviser but he never once called me to ask me a question. I tried very hard to get an audience with him, I don’t think I ever succeeded in talking to him more than 3 minutes and I was very surprised that we didn’t develop the rapport necessary.” When asked if he was surprised that the NDC lost the 2016 elections, Dr. Cadman said, “I wasn’t surprise at all. I had pointed out to a lot of people that there was very little enthusiasm as far as the election was concern. Well I think people now have major issues which weren’t addressed by infrastructure, by handouts pr the market.”
Commenting on Government’s total neglect of the Mills’ family, Dr. Atta Mills said almost five years after his brother’s demise, government is yet to disclose to the family what the late president is entitled to as an Article 71 office holder.
“As far as the government is concerned and I make no difference from the NDC or NPP, they have treated president Mills shabbily,” Dr. Atta Mills told host of Starr Chat Bola Ray Wednesday. He added “Up till this day nobody has called me to say your brother died in office and according to this report your brother is entitled to this or that.”
Dr. Cadman Mills was appointed Ghana’s Ambassador to the USA by the former president John Dramani Mahama in 2014.
