The flag-bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Former President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) to the Regional hospital in Sunyani to the stem the spread the COVID-19.

The items comprised 40 gowns and pieces of gown boots, 105 pieces of alcohol-based sanitizers, 100 boxes of treated bottled water, several nose masks and quantities of tissue papers.

Mr Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, the Bono Regional Chairman of the NDC, and a former envoy who made the presentation on behalf of the former President commended the frontline health workers for their selfless services to the nation.

Accompanied by Mr Ahmed Ibrahim, the Minority Chief Whip and some regional executives of the NDC, Mr Nyamekye-Marfo emphasized the NDC’s readiness and commitment to support the Ghana Health Service (GHS) in the national fight against the disease.

He, therefore, expressed the hope that the items would be used for the intended purposes, as the former President Mahama made similar donations to other hospitals and health facilities across the country.

Dr Emmanuel Kofi Amponsah, the Medical Director of the Hospital thanked the former President and the NDC for the assistance saying the PPEs would go a long way to motivate the health workers to do more in the fight.

He observed that the hospital had received similar donations from the public, but most of the items were those particularly meant for patients, and thanked the NDC for the boots and gowns and appealed for more of such materials.
