Edmund Kyei says comment by former president John Mahama that the abandonment of some projects that were started under his tenure is criminal was intended to incite public anger against President Akufo-Addo.

In an opinion piece to the media in Accra on Thursday, the Asokwa Constituency 1st Vice Chairman of the NPP insisted that Mr Mahama’s call for the completion of the E-Blocks which was commenced by his administration was an agenda ”to play with the emotions of Ghanaians’’.

According to Edmund Kyei, more than 30 E-Blocks have been completed since the Akufo-Addo administration assumed office in 2017.

“More than 30 E-Blocks has been completed by government in phase one and most of the blocks are under competition so it is incorrect for former President Mahama to state that the community day school has been abandoned by government ,” Edmund Kyei added.

Mr Mahama a few days ago expressed worry over government’s failure to continue the Mpaha Community Day School in the Central Gonja District.

The former president finds it disappointing that a project in the Yapei Kusawgu Constituency of the Savanna region, which could transform education in the area is left to rot under this current administration.

But, the NPP communicator sharply disagrees with the former president, labelling him as a ‘divisive leader’.

Below is the full statement by Edmund Kyei

EX PRESIDENT’S CALL FOR COMPLETION OF E-BLOCK IS AN AGENDA TO PLAY WITH THE EMOTIONS OF GHANAIANS

Former president Mahama’s recent visit to Savannah Region was characterized with all sorts of misinformation concerning the community day school blocks.

He said government has abandoned the E-Block he started during his tenure on his visit to Mpaha Community Day SHS in Yapei Kusawgu District.

The exact school he referred to was about 55 percent completed in 2016 and physical work on the said block was completed in July 2019, inspection for the handover was done to that effect. So it means what ex-President was making the public to believe was not the true picture of the matter and he was just playing on the emotions of the public.

More than 30 E-Blocks has been completed by government in phase one and most of the blocks are under competition so it is incorrect for former President Mahama to state that the community day school has been abandoned by government.

I want to state emphatically that Ex-President Mahama is playing on the emotions of Ghanaians and want to paint the government black to the public.
