During President Mahama’s State of the Nation address to Ghanaians, he adopted an evidence based style by displaying in the gallery and chamber of parliament, some beneficiaries of his government’s various social intervention policies.

While delivering his address, the president made his intention clear that he was addressing the nation on evidence basis and for the first time in parliament, some Ghanaians who had benefited from the NDC’s social intervention policies were made to wave to the crowd and TV cameras anytime the president delivered a testimony.

Despite the numerous evidences President Mahama stormed parliament with, the Ashanti Regional Chairman for the New Patriotic Party, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has detected “lies” he believes would motivate electorates to vote the NDC out.

A 42-year old woman, Zainabu from Tinkani, in the Pusiga District in the Upper East Region, was named by President Mahama as an example of a LEAP beneficiary who has invested her LEAP grant in livestock farming.

According to the president, Zainabu, a single mother, has grown one piglet into 10 pigs and is now able to support her household and take care of her family since her husband passed away.

But Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako also known as Chairman ‘Wontumi’ claims to have numerous Muslim friends and knows it would be an act of haram for any of them to rear pigs.

“If you should read [Al-Qur’an 5:3] it tells every Muslim who believes in Allah to abstain from swine”. “Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that on which hath been invoked the name of other than Allah.”

In an interview with Peacefmonline.com, Chairman ‘Wontumi’ poured scorn on the president’s address pointing out that it was “meaningless” and “a catalogue of stinky lies”.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Flagbearer of the NPP is expected to deliver a state-of-the-nation address on Monday, February 29, strictly his version.

Titled ‘The Real State of the Nation’, the address by Nana Akufo-Addo is expected to outline the state of the nation in the eyes of the largest opposition party.

It tends to rival the three-hour address delivered on the floor of Parliament on Thursday, February 25 by President John Dramani Mahama.

The address will be delivered at the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons at 10:00am.
