On Friday, December 13, 2024, the Joint Transition Team convened for its second meeting, where significant decisions were made to ensure a smooth and orderly transition of power.
The key resolution focused on the handling of ongoing payments, recruitments, and other related activities within the public sector.
According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for the Mahama Transition Team, it was decided that all such matters would need to be submitted to the Transition Team on a case-by-case basis for thorough review and consideration.
“This move aims to bring clarity to the status of these payments and recruitments,” Ofosu explained. “By doing so, we are offering a structured and transparent way of addressing any outstanding issues in an amicable manner.”
He further emphasized that public officials are strongly encouraged to comply with this directive, urging them to resist any undue pressures that may arise during this sensitive time of transition.
The decision comes as part of efforts to ensure the integrity and smooth functioning of the government during the period of transition.
In light of ongoing discussions about government appointments and resource allocations, this move is seen as crucial in maintaining public trust and preventing any hasty decisions that could potentially undermine the transition process.
At the meeting, the team underscored the importance of compliance with the outlined processes and reiterated that any decisions made regarding payments or recruitments should be within the established guidelines.
“We are committed to making this transition as seamless as possible,” Ofosu noted, addressing concerns over potential political tensions or disputes.
