Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, has criticized Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, the former Government Spokesperson for Governance and Security under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for calling for an inquiry into the expenditure of President Mahama’s inauguration.
During a panel discussion on Metro TV on January 10, 2025, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah called for accountability regarding the cost of Mahama’s inauguration.
In response, Joyce Bawah Mogtari took to social media to lambast Dr. Boakye-Danquah, accusing him of remaining silent during President Akufo-Addo’s administration, which she claimed had plunged the country into economic hardship.
She wrote, “Apparently, @PalgraveDanquah, until recently the almost silent Akufo-Addo Spokesperson on governance, has been asking about the cost of President Mahama’s inauguration. I am still shaking my head.
“Please tell him that inaugurations are funded by the government in this case, the former administration, represented on the Transition Committee by the Former Chief of Staff. The planning is done by the Transition Team and executed by the State Protocol Department."
She added that “Funny enough, he sat mute as his uncle’s government destroyed the economy, borrowed recklessly, and left us totally bankrupt. He never once asked any questions about PDS, Pwalugu, the astronomical cost of the non-existent National Cathedral, and many others.
“Ghanaians have totally rejected your government, @PalgraveDanquah. Get a grip. Thank you.”
