The Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu, John Abdulai Jinapor, has identified some key challenges that the incoming John Dramani Mahama administration must address, with power supply topping the list.

With the outgoing government grappling with ongoing power supply issues and difficulties in meeting payments to power providers, John Jinapor has called on the next Mahama-led administration to prioritise resolving the country’s energy challenges.

In a post on his Facebook page on December 29, 2024, the lawmaker stressed the urgent need to stabilise power supply to ensure effective service across the country, warning that failure to do so could harm the administration’s reputation.

“Parts of Ghana currently experiencing load shedding from GRIDCo. The first challenge for the next government will be to stabilise power (electricity) supply asap,” he wrote on his Facebook page on December 29, 2024.

His statement follows ongoing concerns and protests from some Ghanaians who are opposed to Mahama’s election, with many fearing the return of erratic power cuts, popularly known as "dumsor," that have plagued the country in the past.
