The former Chief Executive Officer of GNPC in the erstwhile Mahama administration, Alex Mould has said that the economic performance of Former President Mahama will surely win him power in the 2020 presidential elections, ABC News can report.
The former boss of GNPC contends that the former President’s effort to put Ghana’s economy on sound terrain cannot be compared with the effort put in by the current Akufo-Addo led government. He noted that the areas of infrastructure, energy and commodities saw massive improvement due to the deliberate effort of the former president.
Mr. Alex Mould, who some have tipped as a possible running mate to Mahama further stated that due to the ingenuity of Former President Mahama, the ESLA fund was instituted to stabilize the economy.
Speaking on TV3’s Hot Issues on Saturday, Mr. Mould was of the firm belief that the extraordinary performance of Former President Mahama relative to that of President Akufo-Addo, his main contender, will definitely bring the NDC to power in the 2020 elections.
“2016 was one of the best years for the NDC, a lot of things had been done to make sure we could get the economy back on track by 2017 and fortunately for NPP, they inherited all of that,” Mr. Mould said.
He continued that “they (NPP) inherited all the things that had been put in place and all they had to do was follow the handing over notes.”
However, contrary to the claims made by the former GNPC boss, the Akufo-Addo led government contends that the former president left a rather tattered economy. They aver that irrespective of the mess created by the erstwhile Mahama government, they have fixed it and are on track to making Ghana a prosperous nation.
