Flagbearer Hopeful for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Kweku Ricketts-Hagan, says former President John Mahama has no unfinished business for it to warrant his comeback as NDC flagbearer for 2020 general election.

“I do not believe that there is anything in governance that is called an unfinished business. You do your business the time that you were given and then when the time is up…you go. No one person can solve the problems of this country forever”, he explained.

“You can’t solve all problems. You come and do your bit and hopefully, you leave the country in a good state as I believe [former] President Mahama has done so that the person who takes on the baton can continue and add to it”.

“You cannot come back and say you are the one who can do everything for the country,” Ricketts-Hagan stated in an interview, PrimeNewsGhana’s reports!

The Member of Parliament for Cape Coast South Constituency in the Central Region added that, John Mahama has contributed his quota and as such take a back seat and allow others to lead the NDC into 2020.

“I believe the former President has done his best for the country. It is time for the party to move on and look for a new leader who will first of all have the opportunity to be able to start a programme that could possibly see eight years”.

Mr. Ricketts-Hagan in August this year declared his intention to contest as a flagbearer of the party. In a letter addressed to the General Secretary of the party, he stated that, he was ready to share his message based on the party’s principles to enable it to have a realistic chance of reclaiming political power in 2020.

Explaining why he believes he is the best candidate to lead the party into the 2020 polls, Mr. Ricketts-Hagan said, he represents the new vision and ideas the party needs going into the next presidential elections.

“We went into an election in 2016 which we lost. When you go into any battle and you lose, you have to come back to the drawing board to strengthen yourself and forge ahead with new ideas and new vision and I that is what I believe I will be able to offer my dear NDC party going forward, that is the reason why I am putting my hat in this race”.

He said it was unfair for him or any individual to be blamed for the party’s abysmal performing in the last parliamentary election especially in the Central Region, noting that, he has solution to some of the challenges that resulted in the poor results.
