The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akomea has referred to the scriptures which says ‘but my God shall supply all my needs according to his riches through Christ ’, so he is surprised Ghana is going through hardship under President John Dramani Mahama who claimed he was ordained by God.

According to him, it is inexcusable for the president to align his presidency to God when it is clear that there were some irregularities that favoured him.

“Whiles Ghanaians are going through hardship, what the president has to say is God has blessed us, is that the right thing for him to tell Ghanaians? He (Prez Mahama) goes around saying God ordained him, what kind of person is he? Even the electoral commission results, out of 11 million vote casted, what was his (Prez Mahama) percentage? Less than 2 percent (2%). Is that the reason why God ordained him as he is saying? He questioned.

President Mahama’s ‘God ordained Presidency’ comment over the weekend at a ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the Mount Horeb Victorious Church International at Mamfe in the Eastern Region, has generated many cacophonies in the media whiles some section of the opposition NPP describe it as contempt of court since the outcome of the election is still being challenged at the Supreme Court of Ghana.

The president was purportedly to have said: “…what they (opponents) didn’t understand is that it is God who bestows leadership. During the campaign, I declared that it was not by my might that I was going to be president of Ghana, but that He who is above…that is why they [opposition parties] still cannot understand why a person will use 40 days to win an election in a country…But He who is above does wonderful things and He does what pleases Him”.

But Nana Akomea who was speaking on Asempa FM in a sharp response said: “So if God ordained President Mahama for him to win the election, where from the ‘Dom sor dom sor’ (erratic power supply)? Water shortage all over the country, as well as illegal mining (galamsey); is this the reason why God ordained him as he claimed?

He, however, advised the president to refrain from false prophecy that, he will reign for eight years.

“He (Prez Mahama) shouldn’t let any prophet deceive him. The prophet should rather tell him how to solve the numerous problems he is facing in his government than to let him know he will win an election again, that is how the pastor should advise him. If he wants to win for the second term after the court ruling, then he should work hard towards that,” he said.
