Mahama sidelining ‘NPP Imams’ – Minority Leader

Minority leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has said President John Dramani Mahama is a divisive leader who treats Muslim leaders unfairly.

He has also accused the president of vote buying and superintending corruption by sharing Land Cruisers to Imams who are sympathetic to the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking at a mini-rally and inauguration of a group named One Love NPP Movement, which seeks to canvass votes for the NPP and its flag bearer Nana Akufo-Addo ahead of the December polls, the Suame lawmaker reiterated that development in Suame has been slow because his party is currently not in office. He gave the assurance that his constituents will not be neglected should he be re-elected as MP.

"President Mahama has been distributing Land Cruisers and diplomatic passports to chief imams who he thinks are his affiliates. However, he has been sidelining the chief imams who he believes are sympathetic to the NPP,” Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu stated.

“As I speak to you, the Ashanti regional chief imam has been sidelined because he [Mr Mahama] thinks he [the imam] supports the NPP. Who is more divisive?" he asked.

Mr Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu said Nana Akufo-Addo, if elected president, will make him a senior minister in his government and, therefore, if he is re-elected as an MP, he will bring development into the constituency.

“Nana Akufo-Addo has promised to make me a senior Minister. I’m the only person he publicly declared to make a senior minister when he visited Suame. This means if you vote for Nana Akufo-Addo and me, you shall see massive development in the constituency,” he stated.
