President John Dramani Mahama will
soon activate and complete the regional tours which were started by the late
President John Evans Atta Mills in April 2011.
Before President Mills’ untimely
demise, he had conducted tours to eight regional capitals in the country
notably the three northern regions, the Ashanti, Western, Greater Accra, Brong
Ahafo and the Eastern Regions.
He was scheduled to end the tours by
visiting Volta and Central Regions, both of which are his political world bank
for votes and home town or birthplace respectively.
The institution of the regional
tours enabled the late president to know at first hand which projects had been
started and completed, those left undone and what remained to be done to
alleviate the suffering of the people especially those in the hinterlands.
Ghana Palaver checks indicate that
President John Mahama will start the tours when the ‘dust’ surrounding the late
president’s death, final funerals rites and other activities aimed at giving
him eternal rest are settled.
Meanwhile, there are serious
indications that some of the regions which were visited by the late president
would be revisited to ascertain what had again been done ever since the last
visit.
