George Bernard Shaw, lawyer for seven of the 14 suspects standing trial for the alleged murder of Major Maxwell Mahama, has withdrawn his services.

Mr Shaw told the High Court hearing the case on Thursday 15 February 2018, that he had some challenges that makes it impossible for him to continue representing the suspects in court.

Major Mahama was lynched on suspicion that he was an armed robber after a group of residents at Denkyira Obuasi now New Obuasi from whom he asked for directions during a Monday (May 29, 2017) dawn jogging session spotted a pistol on him.

The deceased army officer, who was not in any military attire at the time, was attacked by residents allegedly organised by the Assemblyman of the area.

Fourteen suspects have been arraigned for allegedly murdering him.

But the case has been adjourned to 5 March 2018. The Court is expected to set up a jury for full trial to begin.
