Mahama visits family of late Theodosia Okoh

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday described the late Mrs Theodosia Okoh as a lady whose death would forever be remembered with the sight of the colours of the National Flag.

"I am here first to sympathize with the family of our late mother, sister, and grand-mother, and to sign the book of condolence... and will like to call on others to come and pay their last respect to her."

President Mahama said this when he visited the family of the late Theodosia Okoh, who passed on last Sunday at her Ridge residence in Accra.

Mrs Okoh, who designed the National Flag, was 92.

President Mahama was accompanied by Dr Omane Boamah, Minister of Communications; Nii Laryes Afotey Agbo, Greater Accra Regional Minister; Mr Rashid Pelpuo, a Minister of State; Ambassador Kwasi Quartey, Executive Secretary to the President; and Mr Baffoe Bonney, Presidential Staffer, among others.

President Mahama described Theodosia as an illustrious daughter of Ghana, who paid her dues and therefore deserved a lot of tributes to see her off into the bosom of “The Lord”.

President Mahama had earlier directed that all flags should fly at half-mast for three days, which ended Thursday in her honour.

Mr Kwesi Okoh, son of the late national figure, described her death as peaceful as she woke up, took her meals before reverting to her bed, only to be declared dead after some hours.

Jokingly, Kwesi added:" As a result, we don't even know the exact time our mother, grandmother, and sister departed."

He said funeral arrangements would be made known in due course.
