“God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?” — Numbers 23:19 (KJV).

The political atmosphere is charged with anticipation and speculation as Ghana gears up for the crucial 2024 general elections, slated for December 7.

Prophetic declarations from religious leaders have captured significant attention among the various forms of predictions and analyses.

Two leading candidates, former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have been at the centre of these prophecies.

Here, we highlight nine pastors who have prophesied victory for one of these two candidates.

Prophecies in favour of John Mahama

1. Prophet Elijah A. M. Conteh

The famed Sierra Leonean prophet, during a New Year Watch Night Service at Revival Power Ministries Worldwide, predicted that a party in Ghana with the acronym NDC would win the 2024 elections.

He specifically mentioned December 10, 2024, as the date of the victory announcement, just three days after the general election.

“I see a party like the NDC in Ghana celebrating an election; I don’t know whether the election is for [sic] but I saw the date 10th of December 2024.

"I saw an announcement being made, 10th of December, NDC party, whoever their flagbearer is, let them just pray and work well. There is light at the end of the tunnel and God will cause us all to enjoy peace across the nations of the world,” he told his congregation.

2. Prophet Ebenezer Adarkwa Yiadom (Opambour)

The founder of Ebenezer Miracle Worship Centre, popularly known as Opambour, reiterated his belief that John Mahama would return to the presidency.

According to Opambour, God has chosen Mahama to lead the nation, and no force can alter this divine plan.

“God has told me that John Mahama will assume the seat of the presidency and nothing can change that. God is the one bringing him because he is the only person who can change the fortunes of the nation and no one else.”

3. Prophet Nigel Gaisie

The leader of the Prophetic Hill Chapel also prophesied a victory for John Mahama during his New Year declarations.

Gaisie emphasized that Mahama would emerge victorious in the 2024 elections.

4. Prophet Emmanuel Badu Kobi

Prophet Badu Kobi predicted that the election would go into a runoff, but ultimately, Mahama and the NDC would triumph.

5. Unnamed Zambian Pastor

A pastor in Lusaka, Zambia, proclaimed during a church service that the NPP would not remain in power after the 2024 elections.

He asserted that John Mahama and the NDC would win decisively, leaving no room for doubt.

“In the year 2024, the National Democratic Congress of Ghana, led by President John Dramani Mahama... what I can say is that they have won.

“NDC, ‘omu afa’. NDC would win the 2024 election without any doubt. Praise the name of the Lord,” he said.

Prophecies in favour of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

1. Reverend Victor Kusi Boateng

The founder of Power Chapel International, Rev. Kusi Boateng, shared his prophecy during a church service, predicting that Dr. Bawumia would be declared the winner on December 9, 2024.

He also warned that the NPP might lose a significant number of parliamentary seats if they are not vigilant.

"And the result is obvious. Things are difficult, I know that two people are coming, but the Lord has told me that by the 9th of December, His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia shall be crowned the president of Ghana," he prophesied to his congregation.

2. Prophet Azuka

Prophet Azuka declared that Dr. Bawumia was destined to become Ghana's next president. He went as far as to state that if his prophecy did not come true, his church premises should be burned to the ground.

In a video shared by Express GH TV on YouTube and sighted by GhanaWeb, Prophet Azuka was emphatic about the outcome.

“Today’s date should be marked, I am saying that Bawumia will win the presidential elections. I am speaking on authority. If he does not win, burn my church premises into ashes,” he said.

3. Prophet Paul Kusi Appiah (Warrior-Prophet)

Warrior-Prophet not only prophesied a Bawumia victory but also described the attire Dr. Bawumia and his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), would wear during their inauguration on January 7, 2025.

He challenged those predicting a Mahama win to provide similar details.

During a panel discussion on June 28, 2024, the Warrior-Prophet declared that Dr. Bawumia, currently serving as Ghana's Vice President, and his potential running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO, will win the election.

"They are claiming Mahama will win, and I am also saying Bawumia will win. I want to throw a challenge to them to tell us which position Mahama would be when we ballot because, for me, I know the position in which Bawumia would be placed on the ballot paper."

4. Apostle Agyenim Boateng

The Senior Pastor of Peniel Outreach Ministries International and host of “Awurade Akasa” on Angel TV/FM, Apostle Agyenim Boateng, has consistently championed Dr. Bawumia as the NPP's most strategic candidate. He warned that without Bawumia as their flagbearer, the NPP would struggle to secure even 38% of the vote.

“I am declaring today that the only hope of the NPP is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. Without the [Vice President], the NPP will lose the 2024 elections. I would be extremely surprised if the party could secure up to 38% of the vote without Dr. Bawumia as the party’s candidate. I came with a word of caution, if the NPP wants to win the 2024 elections, they must be very careful,” the Angel TV/FM pastor proclaimed in his daily devotional on Angel TV.
