Mahama will turn things around in Ghana

A member of the NDC’s communication team believes the slashing off of 25% from electricity tariffs and the swift dismissal of former Deputy Minister of Communications, Victoria Hammah, are indicative of the fact that President John Dramani Mahama will deliver on his electoral promises before the 2016 election.

Government, over the weekend, upon the demand of Organized Labor, announced that it has agreed to pay Ghc410 million to the utility companies to ensure a steady supply of electricity until full cost recovery is achieved. Subsequently, the starting point of the average electricity tariff increase has been reduced from 78.9 percent to 59.18 percent (including all taxes, levies and charges). This represents a reduction of 25 percent.

Based on government’s action, Bernard Anim Piesie posited on Okay Fm that those two actions clearly indicates President Mahama’s administration is a listening-government.

“…government has not relented in its effort to address the needs of Ghanaian workers. We only want them to exercise patience as the president is putting measures in place to fulfill all the promises made in the 2012 election manifesto before 2016,” he said.

To him, President Mahama is God-sent to Ghana to complete the many developmental projects which the previous administration began but could not finish.

“….though many governments have tried their best to add their quota to the energy sector and other projects, God will use President Mahama to turn things around and end the energy crisis in the country. All President Mahama needs from Ghanaians is their support”, he said.
