The chairman of the People's National Convention (PNC), Sampson Asaki Awingobit, has said that President-elect John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the 2024 elections because Ghanaians wanted change and were ready to have it.
Speaking with Kasapa News, Sampson Asaki said that he and his team decided to follow the NDC after their disqualification due to their policies. "The Electoral Commission (EC) said we did not complete our forms and disqualified us. We took the case to the Supreme Court and High Court and lost the case.
"We had to accept the disqualification; then we decided to back the NDC because of the policies they preached. It really aligns with all of us," he stated.
The chairman continued that the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the election because they were power drunk and did not want to listen to what anyone had to say, either good or bad.
"They were power drunk and did not listen to anyone. Ghanaians became angry and said to themselves that when they talk, they would be ganged up on, so instead of opening their mouths to talk, they would rather talk through their votes," he said.
Chairman Awingobit further advised the President-elect to arrest, jail, and deal with anyone who has, in one way or another, squandered the country's money.
"Don't just throw them in jail. Make sure you retrieve everything they have squandered by putting an embargo on their properties and auctioning them. Sell them and bring the money back to the country," he stated.
