Accra, Sept. 16, GNA - Maharishi Foundation on Thursday urged Ghanaians to practice the Maharishi Vedic Approach to health, which includes collective meditation, as the effective means for the prevention and cure of ailments.

It said orthodox medicine and other health practices have failed despite massive resources being sunk into their operation adding that the maxim: "Health for all by the year 2000" on the national and global levels is illusive.

Dr G. C. Mills-Odoi, private medical practitioner and a leading member of the foundation, told a press conference in Accra that Vedic approach is done through collective meditation, and other advanced techniques of gaining absolute health.

He said the current general practice or approach to health is only treating symptoms to the neglect of many causative factors of affliction, including poor diet, unhealthy environment and genetics. "Man is linked with the environment with relationship to cosmic bodies like planets, which have direct influence on the individual's physiology, mind and behaviour.

"They influence every aspect of health all the time." Dr Mills-Odoi added that no one could always be completely healthy unless this missing link in knowledge is introduced in health education and programmes.

He said several sayings like "when the last tree dies, the last man dies" is relevant to health and should not be taken lightly. This is because man is not more important than plants since the dependent survival ratio is 50-50. "The weakness and the violation of the law of nature make us sick but consciousness is the way through."
