The Education Minister, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang says most of the concerns of striking teachers have been swiftly addressed.

According to her, the speed with which their concerns are being addressed should give them the assurance that their concerns are being taken seriously and thus must return to the classroom.

The National Labour Commission on Thursday ruled that the teachers return to the classroom while negotiations resume between them and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.

Among the concerns of the teachers is the negotiation with the Ghana Education Service over non financial allowances, something the minister disclosed at a news conference is being worked on.

She also noted that concerns of promotions have also been addressed as interviews for such promotions will begin soon across the country.

“Communications has not broken down and that is why we keep appealing to the teachers to go back to the classroom while negotiations continue because the issues are many.

“We were working on the promotions, in fact we even have a timetable out and we are thinking that when we decentralized the promotions it would make for more speedy conclusions” the Education Minister said.
