Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, the Northern Regional Minister, on Tuesday, appealed to the security agencies to do more in the coming year to ensure that the region registers zero level of conflict.

He said this in a Christmas and New Year Message to the chiefs and people of the Region in Tamale.

Alhaji Limuna said, “The simmering tensions and occasional outbursts arising out of ethnic, chieftaincy, religious and political differences have given us a negative image as a region which we must work collectively to reverse.”

He called for support for the security agencies to maintain peace in the Region saying “We must not allow a few to derail efforts at ensuring peace at all times.”

He said “as we celebrate Christmas, we must remind ourselves of Christ’s teachings which include loving one another, love your neighbour as yourself, forgiveness amongst others to ensure peaceful coexistence.”

Alhaji Limuna said 2014 had been a challenging year but due to perseverance by all, the country recorded some progress in terms of development in the area of infrastructure.

He said, “Let us bear with government and offer the needed support so that the Better Ghana Agenda will be achieved for the benefit of everyone.”

He expressed gratitude to all for their efforts at ensuring development in the Region saying “We could not have made any progress in 2014 without the active support and cooperation of our chiefs, religious leaders, opinion leaders and the entire citizenry in the region.”
