Teachers have been asked to do more to make the classroom lively and pupil-friendly.
The head teacher of the Saint Louis Demonstration Junior High School (JHS), Madam Millicent Otoo, said this was the way to go to bring the best out of the children.
She gave the advice at a ceremony held to welcome 300 new pupils admitted to the school at Mbrom.
She said it was only when the school environment becomes less intimidating that the kids would be encouraged to tell the teachers about their problems, for appropriate solutions to be found.
Madam Otoo also spoke of the need for parents to show understanding and cooperate with teachers to discourage indiscipline and bad conduct among children.
The situation where some parents insult and physically attack teachers, for correcting their erring kids, must stop.
She told the pupils to take responsibility for their education by working hard on their books.
The Reverend Father Michael Kwaku Boahen, Deputy Rector of the St. Peter’s Cathedral Basilica and Chaplain of the school, reminded teachers to work with passion and dedication to assure the nation of a better future.
They should uphold professional ethics and avoid doing anything that could create image problems for the teaching profession.
He also admonished parents to show love to their children and provide them with their basic needs.
