The Chief of Dompoase near Fomena in the Adansi North district of Ashanti Region, Nana Okofo Sobin Kan II, may soon be dragged before a law court to defend charges of defamation with the dismissal of a criminal case brought against his spiritualist.

An Accra-based spiritualist, Mallam Issah Mohammed intends to initiate action against the Adansi chief for defamation.

Mallam Issah was dragged to a Kumasi High Court based on the complaint made to the police by Nana Okofo Sobin Kan II against him (Mallam), who he accused of unlawful entry into his palace.

But the High Court, presided over by Mr. Justice Emmanuel Amo-Yartey, having heard the case discharged the Mallam for want of evidence.

Mallam Issah told The Chronicle that two years ago, about GH¢ 1,700, 000 was paid by AngloGold Ashanti for resettlement of the people of a community of Dokyiwaa in Dompoase to Nana Okofo.

Nana Okofo Sobin Kan II reportedly embezzled the said money and approached Mallam to help him spiritually, as a result of which the spiritualist planted some juju at his palace to disable the people of Dokyiwaa from claiming their money.

An amount of GH¢45,000 was agreed as his workmanship for the spiritual assignment out of which the Chief made an initial payment of GH¢5,000 representing 11 percent of the amount.

Mallam Issah said all attempts to get the remaining GH¢40,000 (89%) being arrears of the fee owed him by the Chief could not materialise.

Following, Mallam Issah went to the palace with ten heavily built men to uproot his juju. This did not go down well with the Dompoase Chief, who called the Police that armed robbers had invaded his palace.

On arrival at the palace, the police, led by then District Commander DSP Daniel Anane Amoah did not find any offensive weapon on the supposed armed robbers as reported by Nana Okofo Sobin Kan II.

Not satisfied, the Dompoase Chief, who denied the juju was buried in the palace at his instance, as reported by the Daily Graphic of December 10, 2013, followed the charge of armed robbery up to the High Court in Kumasi, accusing the Mallam of unlawful entry into his territory, but the court dismissed the case, which was being prosecuted by the police for lack of evidence.

Subsequently, Mallam Issah has hinted of his intention to go to court and press defamation charge against the Dompoase Chief.

When this reporter contacted the chief, he pleaded with him (journalist) to allow him speak to his lawyer first, before commenting on the issue.

Since he did not give specific time to get back to the reporter, the Editor, upon the receipt of the story in Accra sent a text message to Nana Okofo Sobin Kan II to be specific with when to get his input into the story, but as at the time of going to press, he had not responded to the message.
