Koforidua, July 8, GNA - The Headmaster of Mamfe Presbyterian Junior High School (JHS), Mr Edward Osei Agyeman, has appealed to old students of the school to support the school with computers.

He said already the school has a furnished computer laboratory with electricity but only one computer for the 120 pupils of the school.

Mr Agyemang made the appeal at the fifth open day of the school which was organised at Mamfi-Akuapem on Thursday mainly to raise funds to acquire computers for the school.

He said one could not effectively compete on the job market without being computer literate and therefore the school needed the computers.

Mr Agyeman appealed to the friends of the school, old students, the Parent/Teacher's Association and all stake holders in education to support the school to acquire some computers.

Ms Sophia Agyekum, the Senior Prefect of the school, praised the teachers of the school for their dedication to duty but expressed regret that pupils did not demonstrate seriousness.

She said they the pupils had decided to go to the homes of their colleagues who had stopped coming to school because they could not get daily pocket money to plead with their guardians and parents to support them to enable them return to school.

The Chairman of the function, Bafour Asare Manteaw, Atipehene of Mamfe-Akuapem, appealed to parents in the area to take keen interest in the education of their children.

He explained that, it is only children whose parents neglect them that go wayward and therefore advised parents in the area to be interested in the education of their children.
