Maa Lydia, widow of the man who together with his four children were consumed to death by fire at their residence in Ashanti Mampong in the Ashanti Region last Friday dawn, has revealed that her husband had no scores to settle with anyone, contrary to rumours making the rounds.
The fire which started around 12:30 am trapped Evangelist Isaac Adu Botwe, 46, an Estate Officer of the Obuasi Hospital, his brother, Junior, 23, his four children and a friend, Prophet Sarfo, 38, till they were burnt beyond recognition.
The children, Pastor, 12, Mummy, 7, Papa, 3, and Princess, 2, were not spared as the Evangelist of the King Jesus House of Prayer at Mampong could be heard yelling for help but to no avail.
Their death threw the area into a state of mourning as the manner in which they lost their lives came as a shock to the residents.
There have been rumors that as the fire was consuming the victims, the man was heard mentioning the name of one Nana Yaw allegedly shouting and asking why he was burning him and his children to death.
But speaking exclusively to Kasapa News, Maa Lydia who was lucky to have attended her mum’s funeral at the time of the fire outbreak dismissed the rumours about circumstances leading to her relatives’ untimely death.
“My husband was a good Christian who never had issues with no one. He never had scores to settle with any other person. He’s quick to tell you when he feels that you have wronged him; all the allegations that my husband was quarreling with someone is false. Nothing of that sort exists. Enough of the rumors and allegations. There was no gas in my kitchen as is being speculated might have caused the fire outbreak, my cylinder was empty. Hmm, I leave everything to God.”
There have been rumors that as the fire was consuming the victims, the Pastor was heard mentioning the name of one Nana Yaw allegedly shouting and asking why he was burning him and his children to death.
Maa Lydia, however confirmed knowledge of one Nana Yaw whom she said her husband used to work with but was sacked after he stole their money, nevertheless she was quick to add that there were no hard feelings among his husband and Nana Yaw.
She disclosed that three days after the horrific incident; no Police officer had contacted her to assist in investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, all the victims were on Monday buried at Ashanti Mampong.
