Ampadu, on Wednesday sentenced a 20-year-old unemployed to seven years imprisonment for defiling a 12 year old girl. The accused, Robert Teye Djornorbach pleaded guilty and was sentenced on his own plea. The facts of the case are that, at about 1900 hours on 12th March this year, the complainant, was sent to collect corn-dough from a house nearby by the grandmother with whom she lives at Salusi, in Somanya. While on her way the complainant saw the accused person who stays in the same area sitting on a window frame near where she was sent. When the accused saw that the complainant had entered the house, where she was to collect the corn dough, he rushed into the house held the complainant and gagged her with a rag. The accused then removed the pants of the complainant and defiled her. After satisfying himself, the accused released the complainant and warned her not to inform anybody about what he had done to her. The grandmother realising that the complainant had kept long on her errand, sent madam Josephine Kudzordzi, an auntie of the complainant fetch her. Madam Kudzodzi met the complainant on the way weeping with a swollen face and when she questioned her, the complainant narrated her ordeal.
