Apowa, (W/R) May 4, GNA - Tragedy struck the residents of Apowa, near Takoradi, when a 34-year old unemployed man committed suicide in his room. The Kwesimintsim Crime Officer, ASP Ben Ofori Acquah, told the GNA in an interview in Takoradi on Tuesday that, the mother of the deceased, Rose Abakrow, decided to go and wake his only son up for morning devotion around 0630 hours on Saturday April 30.
However, he said, there was no response after she had knocked several times on the door.
Therefore, she called other relatives who helped her to break the door but they found the deceased had hung himself with an electric cable. ASP Acquah said the mother of the deceased told the police that her so= n had suffered from asthma for nine years and sometimes threatened to end his life.
But she constantly advised to trust in God for his divine healing. He said the deceased's mother told the police that her son had not married in spite of persistent advice to marry and he had no problem with anybody.
The Crime Officer said a police search in the deceased room retrieved a note pad with the following words written in it: 93Dear mother, I can't take it anymore; life is dealing with me so hard that, I can't take it any longer. What I'm experiencing in this world is too hard to tell. I have decided to take my life but mother, trust in the Lord and worship him, don= 't look elsewhere but pray for God's strength. Good bye". ASP Acquah said the corpse had been deposited at the Effia-Nkwanta hospital for autopsy.
