Man, 46 nearly lynched for murdering wife and son

The quick intervention of the Police on Sunday morning saved a palm wine tapper from being lynched by residents of Kokofu, near Goaso in the Asunafo North Municipality of Ahafo Region.

The man, Kwame Acheampong aged 46 had murdered his 30-year-old wife, Akua Safia and their son of one year, Kwabena Seidu and attempted to flee after that heinous action.

Unfortunately for him, the town folks apprehended and nearly beat him to death.

Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong, the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on Tuesday in Sunyani.

He said on Sunday, June 30 one Kwabena Kusi, a 50-year-old farmer reported to the Goaso Police that his palm wine tapper Acheampong had murdered Safia and Seidu.

He said Police rushed to the scene and found the two deceased lying in a pool of blood, and that Seidu’s throat had been slashed while Safia had multiple cuts on her body.

Chief Inspector Oppong said the Police arrested the suspect (Acheampong) who was seriously bleeding from the head due to the severe beatings by the residents.

He said the bodies of the two have been deposited at the Goaso Municipal Government Hospital whilst suspect is also receiving treatment at the same Hospital under Police guard.
