Man Beats 67 Year-Old Father To Death

The Police have mounted a search for a 27-year-old unemployed man who is accused of allegedly beating his 67-year-old father to death. Kwame Acquah is also alleged to have assaulted his sister, resulting in serious injuries.

A police source told the Ghanaian Times that Opanin Kwabena Osei, who for a long time has not been happy with the wayward lifestyle of his son, invited Acquah for a discussion in the presence of his sister, Abena Saah. Opanin was said to have rebuked Kwame Acquah and cautioned him that he would fail in life if he did not change his ways.

Acquah, who felt offended by what his father said pounced on the old man and gave him some thrashing till he fell unconscious. He then turned on Abena and gave her a severe thrashing as well.

Neighbours rushed the unconscious Opanin Osei and Abena to the Nkawkaw Holy Family Hospital in the Eastern Region. Abena regained consciousness and was discharged the same day. Opanin Osei who was in critical condition was admitted but died five days later. In another development the police at Nyinahin in the Ashanti Region have arrested and placed in custody a farmer, Kwaku Aheto Kumah who went amok and butchered one person to death and injured another.

The dead has been identified as Anthony Mensah and the injured, Kwame Kpodo. Kpodo is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi while Mensah’s body has been deposited at the Hospital’s mortuary for autopsy.
