The decision of a 35-year-old man, Yaw Francis, to steal a pole that had been used to hoist the flag of the Immigration Service at its Divisional Command at Kasoa in the Central Region came as a shock to the officers after he was arrested.
The suspect is said to have sneaked into the premises of the Immigration Service at midnight on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, in a botched attempt to steal the pole.
However, luck eluded him while in the process, as he was spotted by the eagle eyes of some officers on duty taking the pole away.
The suspect was given a hot chase by the officers, who eventually succeeded in arresting him. The pole was retrieved, and he was handed over to the police.
Yaw Francis is currently in the custody of the Kasoa Under Bridge Police station, assisting investigations.
The Kasoa Central Sector Commander of the Ghana Immigration Service, ACI Fati Yarah, disclosed that several items have been stolen by unknown persons at the office; hence, they have beefed up their security.
