Man butchers friend over missing bag of Indian hemp

Tema, May 24, GNA -- Mensah Amerdormeh of Ashaiman 'fitter line' who inflicted cutlass wounds on his friend over the whereabouts of a half bag of Indian hemp has been remanded in custody by the Tema Circuit Court 'A'.

Amerdormeh pleaded guilty to the charge of causing unlawful harm. He was remanded into custody and the sentence deferred to June 01, 2006 as the prosecutor informed the court that, complainant has been hospitalised.

Chief Inspector Sarah Acquah giving the facts stated that, both Amerdormeh and Mahmoud Tahiru the complainant resides at Ashaiman 'fitter line' and work at the Tema Municipal Assembly's refuse dump site at Ashaiman.

About a month ago, Sulley a friend of Amerdormeh gave him a half bag of Indian hemp for safe keeping to be collected when needed, Chief Inspector Acquah added however that, later when Sulley came for the Indian hemp, accused could not find it at its hiding place. Amerdormeh, who does everything together with the complainant, suspected him of foul play and upon confrontation, complainant promised to give accused information about the missing Indian hemp, cautioning him not to reveal it to anybody. Amerdormeh, who was not getting any information from the complainant for sometime confronted him on May 20 this year resulting in a quarrel between them.

The complainant, who received cutlass wounds on his head and left hand from Amerdormeh during the row rushed to the Ashaiman police station to lodge a complain and was issued with medical form to attend hospital. Amerdormeh who was later arrested admitted the offence in his caution statement. 24 May 06
