Daniel Osae, a 30-year-old farmer at Dome near Kukuwaa in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, yesterday morning did the unthinkable when he beheaded his wife with whom he had three kids.

Daniel was said to have completely chopped off the head of his wife, Florence Ohenewaa, 28, with a very sharp machete when both of them were going to the farm.

After committing the heinous crime, the suspect bolted and the police as well as the town folks mounted a serious search for him.

The Suhum District Police Commander, DSP Anane Appiah, who confirmed the story to Daily Guide, said Daniel Osae was arrested on Monday after relatives of Florence Ohenewaa reported him to the police that he had set some personal effects of his wife on fir following a misunderstanding between them.

According to the police commander, the wife came to the police station on Monday after the arrest of the husband, crying and begging the police to release her husband because he was the bread winner of the family and so the police cautioned and later released him.

“We were shocked a day after his release based on the plea of his wife Daniel Osae has killed her in this gruesome manner,” DSP Anane Appiah told Daily Guide. According to the police commander, there had been some misunderstanding in their marriage but after his release on Monday, the two decided to go to the husband’s farm.

On their way there, the man, who was behind the wife, swung the sharp machete he was holding and completely chopped off her head, after which he bolted.

DSP Anane Appiah explained to Daily Guide that the couple had three kids aged seven, five and two.

The remains of the wife have been deposited at the Suhum Government Hospital while the police continue their search for the suspect.
