Man clubs linquist to death

Agona (Ash), April 15, GNA- Eric Kwabena, 28, a farmer believed to be a drug addict, on Easter Monday clubbed Okyeame Kofi Yadae, a linquist of the Agona Traditional area to death at Agona when he attempted to settle a dispute between him and his mother.

Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the incident, the Agona District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Daniel Dzakah said the deceased went to the house of Kwabena and his mother, Madam Akosua Anokyewaa at about 1500 hours, on April 5 to settle a dispute between the two at the request of Madam Anokyewaa. He said the deceased's presence in the house rather infuriated Kwabena who took a stick and hit Okyeame Yadae from behind. ASP Dzakah said the deceased fell unconscious and was first rushed to the Agona district hospital but was later transferred to the Asante-Mampong district hospital where he was pronounced dead. He said the police who were later informed about the incident arrested the suspect and placed him in police custody.

The body of the deceased, the district police commander said, had been deposited at the mortuary of the Mampong hospital for autopsy.
