Bolgatanga, Nov 16, GNA - A man claiming to be the representative of a newspaper distribution agency in Accra, Michael Adu, was on Monday put before the Bolgatanga Circuit Court for allegedly defrauding Mr Stephen Kwabena Manu, a Bolgatanga based newspaper vendor, of overdue newspapers and publications.

His plea was not taken and the court adjourned the case to November 28.

The papers were supposed to have been sent back as unsold returns to Accra.

Police Inspector Samuel Kpogo said in July 26, the accused introduced himself to Mr Manu as a representative of the Newspaper Distribution Agency based in Accra and had been assigned by the agency to convey the overdue newspapers to Accra.

Mr Manu obliged and handed over the papers to the accused who hired a bus, packed the papers into it and left.

The prosecutor said when the complainant dialled a number Adu had given him the call went to a different person who responded from Tamale.

Mr Manu went to Tamale and at the marker he saw a woman selling a bundle of old newspapers that were similar to what he had given Adu. When he asked the woman how she came by the papers, she said it was the accused who sold them to her. A report was made to the police Adu was arrested.
