Asamankese, Oct. 10, GNA - The Asamankese Circuit Court on Thursday convicted Charles Boadu, a 19-year-old man, to a fine of 600 Ghana Cedis for stealing monies belonging to two Cuban doctors when he was asked to work with others at their bungalow. Boadu, who pleaded guilty, will go to prison for 12 months in hard labour in default of payment.

Police Inspector D. K. Darko, prosecuting, told the court presided over by Mr Kofi Akrowiah that on September 22, the Administrator of Suhum Government Hospital detailed an electrician, carpenter and Boadu to effect repairs at a bungalow accommodating two Cuban doctors. He said the doctors had then left their room unlocked for work to enable the repairs to be effected. Boadu took that opportunity to steal 100 US dollars and 215 Ghana cedis belonging to the doctors.

When the Cubans realized the theft, a report was made to the police and Boadu who was suspected of the theft was arrested. He admitted the offence in his cautioned statement to the Police and was processed for court.
