Man found dead in abandoned mining pit after suspected dispute with sex worker

The body of a 28-year-old man, identified as Yaw Asamoah, has been found in an

abandoned mining pit at Abrense near Atobease in the Amansie West District of the Ashanti Region.

According to a report by citinewsroom.com, Yaw Asamoah, lost his life after he lost GH¢1,000 during a visit to a commercial sex worker and efforts to recover the missing money sparked a heated confrontation between them, that is believed to have ended fatally.

"The young man was later found dead in an abandoned mining pit in the area, sparking outrage and fear among residents," the report noted.

Assembly Member for the Atobease Electoral Area, Samuel Yeboah, said two suspects, including the sex worker, have been arrested to assist police investigations.

“We just called the police to take the caretaker and the sex worker. Investigations are ongoing,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue for autopsy as investigations continue.
