For constantly beating, biting and locking up his two-year-old daughter in a room, Nicolas Chameleon has been put before an Accra Circuit Court.

Chameleon, unemployed, was charged with causing harm and exposing a child to harm, pleaded not guilty.

The court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava granted Chameleon bail in the sum of Ghc5,000.00 with three sureties to reappear on December 12.

Prosecuting assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sarah Acquah told the court that the complainant Kwadjo Darkwah is a mason residing at Agbogba, near Madina.

According to ASP Acquah the accused person also resides in the same area with his girlfriend Nancy Aboagye, who is the victim’s mother and witness in the case.

Prosecution said as a result of Chameleon constantly beating and biting the victim with slight provocation, the victim’s mother had stopped selling so she could keep an eye on him.

The victim’s mother in turn also cautioned the accused person to stop maltreating the child but he would not yield to the advice.

On October 25, this year, at about 0800 hours, the complainant received a message that Chameleon had locked up the victim in the room.

Prosecution said the complainant alerted the Police who moved in swiftly and broke the door of the room where the victim had been locked.

The Police further arrested Chameleon who admitted locking up the victim.
