A man has been killed by a falling telecommunications mast in Takoradi, Western Region after the mast which was situated on top of the storey building fell onto a busy lorry terminal.
According to a report published by Ultimate FM, the deceased man who was identified as Abdul Aziz, a trader, suffered severe injuries to his scalp area when the mast collapsed on to a busy Takoradi-Kojokrom Lorry Terminal.
Mr. Aziz, who was a dealer of CDs, was busy ploughing his trade in his container shop when the telecommunications mast fell and landed on top of his container.
Abdul Aziz was quickly rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital after initially receiving first aid treatment at the scene of the incident.
He was later referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital's Accident and Emergency Unit where a resident doctor, Dr. Irene Ayimadu, confirmed his death.
According to an eyewitness who saw the entire incident, the telecommunications mast also destroyed a Toyota Hiace minivan along with several others structures.
The Nigerian communications company, Glo Ghana, is yet to comment on the incident, but have said that they've referred the matter to their legal team in Accra.
