Nsentenaso (B/A), July 31, GNA- A 40 year old farmer at Nsentenaso in the Dormaa District of the Brong Ahafo Region, Yaw Yeboah, alias Oppong Yaw on Monday shot and killed his wife, Adwoa Kumi, 37 and later committed suicide.

The bodies of the couple have been deposited at the Presbyterian hospital mortuary at Dormaa Ahenkro, while police continue with investigations into the incident.

Dr David Agyapong, Acting General Manager of the hospital, disclosed to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the post mortem on the deceased showed that the couple died from gun shot wounds. He explained that Adwoa was shot at close range on the forehead while the shot that killed Yeboah passed through the right side of his lower jaw almost severing his head.

Police Inspector Emmanuel Owusu in-charge of the police station at nearby Amasu told the GNA that a shotgun and two empty shells were found near the bodies, while there were signs of physical struggle. Mr. Kwabena Owusu, a family member of Yeboah told the GNA that the couple had been married for 15 years and had five children, including a set of twins.

He said until Monday, there was no cause to suspect any problem between the couple even though the woman had sent all the children to her family house at Kyeremasu without any explanation.

Mr. Owusu said a woman who went to the house discovered the two bodies lying close by each other in a pool of blood with the shotgun and the two spent bullets also lying around.

The unidentified woman raised the alarm, which attracted some farmers to the scene, who later rushed to inform the police.
