Asamankese, Nov. 17, GNA - Enock Teye, was on Monday remanded in a remand home by the Asamankese Circuit court for allegedly defiling a 15-year-old cripple to enable the police ascertain his correct age.

Teye initially gave his age as 18 years and later changed it to 15 years but the presiding, Mr Kofi Akrowiah, remanded him to reappear on November 24 this month after an order to verify his right age. Police Chief Inspector Ben Brew, prosecuting, said Teye lived nearer to the cripple and because of the good relations he has with her (cripple) relations he often visited their house.

He said sometime in September this year, Teye visited the girl's house and on realizing that none of her relations was at home lured her into her uncle's room and forcibly had sexual intercourse with her. The prosecution said Teye told her not to inform anyone about the act otherwise she dies.

Chief Inspector Brew said the girl, therefore, kept it with herself and a week later Teye went again to the girl's house and seeing her again alone in the house had sex with her again.

He said on November 4, the girl fell sick and was sent to the Suhum Government hospital where nurses there detected that she was two months pregnant.

She was taken through a scan which confirmed her pregnancy and she confessed that, Teye have had sexual intercourse with her twice. A report was made to the Police and Teye on his arrest confessed defiling the cripple and was charged with the offence.
